New Progressive Blog Enters Into The Public Forum with Guest Contributor Howard Dean
September 1, 2009, Houston, Texas. For Immediate Release: Founder and editor Bob Cavnar announced today that The Daily Hurricane is fully operational and that Governor Howard Dean is the first guest blogger.
The Daily Hurricane, https://dailyhurricane.com provides thoughtful progressive commentary on a broad range of issues and current events, primarily focused on politics and government policy.
The site debuts with six regular bloggers, including Cavnar who uses the handle Eljefebob. Plans are to continue adding new contributors to the masthead, covering a full range of topics from the arts to sustainability and food, and to regularly showcase high profile guest bloggers like Governor Dean.
Howard Dean, a physician and former Governor of Vermont, used his guest spot to address healthcare reform and the highly controversial public option.
When accepting Cavnar’s invitation to participate, the Governor remarked, “I’m convinced that The Daily Hurricane will serve as a valuable contributor to the public debate. It is always gratifying to be able to speak with someone who understands the importance of public perception in policymaking and the ideological sources that can significantly influence public opinion.”
The Daily Hurricane includes news feeds, blog posts, and discussion forums. It is Houston based, so readers can also expect reference to local politics, current events and life in Hurricane Alley. Cavnar says, “I want to provide a welcoming format for learning, teaching, discussing and debating current affairs in an environment that encourages all opinions and political perspectives. We invite visitors to peruse the site and comment with enthusiasm and respect. We designed The Daily Hurricane to be open and friendly for users to read and contribute to our great National Conversation in a productive way.”
The Daily Hurricane is a source of news and views about politics, energy, health care, science, education and current affairs, as well as national and international issues. The Hurricane’s regular writers–who come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds ranging from the executive suite to blue collar labor, small business, science, education and homemaking–have joined together to respond to news of the day with their opinions in an open, respectful environment that encourages lively discussion from different political and social perspectives.
