The Oil Palace in Tyler, Texas, that is. Where the suckers her adoring followers paid $40 and up to hear these pearls of wisdom: "I want this most exceptional country in the nation to be free, to be prosperous, to not be beholden to the foreign countries that soon we are going to be bowing down to if we become more reliant on them to drill for us.""Government can and must play an appropriate oversight...

I love Matt Taibbi (in a manly sort of way, of course) and he has written 2 more great pieces recently, one in the Guardian about Goldman Sachs and one at True/Slant about Sarah Palin. Both are worth reading in their entirety, but here are a couple of excerpts. First from the Guardian:"So Goldman Sachs, the world's greatest and smuggest investment bank, has been sued for fraud by the American Securities and Exchange Commission. Legally,...
Sorry for the duplicate Palin posts, but there's no such thing as too much Sarah. The former Alaska governor was at her dim-witted homespun, folksy best at the Tea Party in Boston yesterday. She was leavin' out the g's and firin' up the faithful. There was a "you betcha," a "shoot," and of course the very original "you can keep the change" thrown in for good measure. All from what the reporter at the Fox...
Republican Virginia State Delegate Bob Marshall claims that disabled children are God's punishment on women who aborted their first pregnancy. Yeah, he really did. "The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically," he said. "Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children." "In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was...

In what can only be termed as another Couric moment, during a misty interview yesterday, Glenn Beck unintentionally stumped new Fox talking head, Sarah Palin, with a trick question: "Who is your favorite Founder?" Deer in the headlights, it was clear she had no clue, and immediately fell into beauty queen babble about diversity, coming together, blah, blah, finally blurting out George Washington, the most obvious choice. Have a look: This Fox gig is going...
First I want to thank everybody for your comments on yesterday's post. Sorry I couldn't jump in but sometimes work gets in the way. The debate between "kill the bill" and "pass it and fix it later" is a good one with valid points to be made on both sides. That's why I like the forum we have here at the Hurricane so much. We can disagree with each other and have a substantive discussion...
Well known for selling books she didn't write, Sarah Palin's name appeared on an opinion piece in the Washington Post this morning that she also probably didn't write. Why do I say that? Because it was in complete sentences with subjects, verbs, and everything. Does it express her opinions? Absolutely. Why do I say that? Because the piece is simple minded, full of mischaracterizations, distortions, and outright lies, pushing politicized, knee jerk, "conservative" talking points. ...
