There will be a protest on Sunday, 3/25 at Houston City Hall to call for justice in the Trayvon Martin case.
While Trayvon was shot and killed in Florida, his death is a matter of national concern.
I will be attending this event at City Hall.
We've got to stick together and show up for each other when times are difficult.
We don't always do that in Houston and in the nation. The rights and freedoms of all people are connected.
I encourage you to take part in this protest at Houston City Hall.
Here are details of the City Hall protest---
On Sunday, March 25, Houston will join the official Justice for Trayvon Martin Movement. The Houston Unites for Justice Rally happens Sunday at 3PM at City Hall's Reflection Pool, 901 Bagby Street, in Downtown Houston.
The event is organized by the NAACP-Houston Branch, Rev. Reginald Lillie-President and Texas NAACP, Gary Bledsoe-President. Partnering organizations and officials include, area Churches, the Houston Urban League-Judson Robinson, Executive Director, LULAC-Mary Ramos, President, Local Unions, Greek fraternities and sororities, Congressional Representatives Sheila Jackson Lee, Al Green, and a host of other officials and groups.
Houstonians of diverse races and affiliations are passionate about expressing our outrage and righteous resolve to see that justice is done in this matter. We join the National Movement calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman and a thorough investigation of the Sanford Police Department.

Neil, it's admirable that you are so active-and that you actually attend and take part in events. That takes a lot more effort than just writing ones opinion on the internet.
There are reports that have come out today that the boy may have physically attacked Zimmerman, and supposedly there are witnesses to this. Of course the right-wingers are going to jump all over this. This issue is perfect for them leading up to the presidential election. You've got what their base gets most excited about at play-guns and race, and the fear for them of having their guns taken away if these laws allowing shooting people in public are repealed.
To me the whole focus of this case should be squarely on the Sanford Police department. On the call, the operator clearly tells Zimmerman to leave the kid alone. Obviously he didn't. So, how could this be in any way construed as self defense on Zimmerman's part? Why the hell didn't the Police arrest Zimmerman? It sure smells of a cover up. I hope the focus of the Justice department inquiry is on the Sanford Police department!
Zimmerman sure sounds guilty, even if he did get beaten up by the boy. He was told to stay away. But the real story here is the Police department. If they had done their job, we wouldn't probably even have heard of this case, which is being used to open up old wounds surrounding race. We don't need this.
