More about UCD:

"Police used batons to try to push the students apart. Those they could separate, they arrested, kneeling on their bodies and pushing their heads into the ground. Those they could not separate, they pepper-sprayed directly in the face, holding these students as they did so. When students covered their eyes with their clothing, police forced open their mouths and pepper-sprayed down their throats. Several of these students were hospitalized. Others are seriously injured. One of them, forty-five minutes after being pepper-sprayed down his throat, was still coughing up blood."

Where is Jerry Brown? I remember a day when he would be with the protesters, but no more. I must conclude from his silence that he considers this an appropriate use of force.

President Obama on January 28:

"So I want to be very clear in calling upon the Egyptian authorities to refrain from any violence against peaceful protestors. The people of Egypt have rights that are universal. That includes the right to peaceful assembly and association, the right to free speech, and the ability to determine their own destiny. These are human rights. And the United States will stand up for them everywhere."

Everywhere?

In the president’s and the AG’S defense, their plates are pretty full right now. Marines had to be sent to Australia just in case the Chinese decide to storm the beaches at Sydney. Obama’s also negotiating more free trade deals to send jobs to Vietnam, Brunei, or wherever the hell else people work for 30 cents an hour. Holder’s got his hands full trying to put banksters behind bars.

Oh, wait a minute. Scratch that last one.

Lets, see.......if I recall, and I'm pretty good at this... someone swore to "preserve, protect, and defend, the constitution of the United
States, so help me God."

Now, who was that again???? Oh, I remember, he's in Bali, fuckin' Indonesia. Certainly can't expect him to do anything from way the hell down there can we.

BUT we have an attorney general whos job it is ALSO. What's HIS excuse?????

Mr. President, you lost my vote.

The authorities in this Country should be extremely grateful that the protests have not turned violent...

I was just reading a long article yesterday about the protests in Egypt and over there, the people don't have the kind of patience we do for our "leaders". The power structure in this Country should take note, and think about meeting the demands of the protestors before it's too late for them?

RECENT history would make them think we are a passive people, but they would make a mistake by focusing on recent history.

sure does...been there, done that...

When I first saw this I though "Damn, where is that"? It really didn't occur to me right away that this was here in the USA.

Doesn't that suck, alienHunter? I was framed for public intoxication about 20 years ago and had to spend the night in jail. I was framed for not paying some traffic tickets about a year later and had to spend a little over a week in the poke that time.

Time for somebody to speak up...

I don't see it as a cut'n'dried issue.

I resisted arrest once (I was framed, really...it was a case of mistaken identity between me and a look alike friend). When I appeared before the judge, I explained that I wasn't resisting arrest, I was resisting the method used. The judge stated, when a cop says you're under arrest, you're under arrest, don't ask questions, don't argue, don't fight, don't do shit, just go. He gave me 30 days in jail.

It IS a police state, where do we draw the line between social justice and the law. That is why the rule of law means nothing to me, the only thing that matters to me is the natural moral law.
