Famous Covered Bridge in Quechee Vermont Flooded | this small planet

Quechee, Vermont, only about 4 miles from our home in Woodstock is one of our state's quaint villages and home to the famous Simon Pearce glass blowing plant.  The covered bridge about 50 yards from there is about 20 to 25 feet above the Ottauquechee River, just downstream of and old damn.  This evening water from Irene topped the road over the bridge.  That's over 25 feet above the normal level of the river.  Here's a video I picked up of the flood on youTube.  Keep in mind that the bridge is at least 20 feet above the river.

I know that bridge in Quechee so well and this breaks my heart.

I was so hoping Vermont would be spared. I hope every one is safe and these trials will be over quickly.
