FFV: Bond Girls (Connery Division)

Okay, we are having our own version of a NCAA tournament. We will go through one bracket at a time (except for having only three brackets). There is the Sean Connery bracket, Roger Moore bracket, and everyone else bracket. We will take the top winner (and a wild-card) into a final four following the competition. So, the rules are to pick one and then a wild card if you think one is warranted. Pictures were primarily from the actual movies.

Ursula Andress (Dr. No)

Daniela Bianchi (From Russia With Love)

Honor Blackman (Goldfinger)

Claudine Auger (Thunderball)

Lucianna Paluzzi (Thunderball)

Mie Hama (You Only Live Twice)

Jill St. John (Diamonds are Forever)

Lana Wood (Diamonds are Forever)

Those of you wondering about Kim Basinger need not apply. Never say Never Again was bogus from the outset. It was Thunderball recycled and clearly a protest piece as it ran in the same year as Octopussy. I consider this the SEC division in the Bond series. I can think of only one truly wasted vote in the bunch. I will exercise my wild card in this division.

This one is called. Ursella Andres is the winner with Lana Wood as a potential wild card.

ROFL! Ok, for sheer beauty, Audrey Hepburn.

No thanks, I'm through with this discussion. Later.

You must also like flat-chested women with men's voices. Give 'em a big nose and you must be in heaven.

We're gonna resolve this here and now.

No friggin' Turners. I'll give you, Kathleen was hot in Body Heat. But no cigar.

Hey, I GAVE you Bacall. But, you never addressewd my Grace Kelly comment. You need to address that now! Before we proceed.

Another poll for another day.

Kathleen Turner, yes. Lana Turner, no.

Absolutely not. Her nose is too long.
You gonna veto Lana Turner??? LANA TURNER???

No Ava is out. I need another nominee.

You must like gals with big noses.

Nah, Ava Gardner.

Allright. I'll give you Bacall. But not Rita. I'll counter with Lana Turner and, here's one you probably weren't expecting, Susan Hayward. She was my first "screen" love.

Damn carguy, you're starting to sound like some other people I know. No disagreement allowed, huh?

Good enough for Bogie, good enough for me.

Rita Hayworth' nose was too big. Bacall, her eyes are too far apart.

Try again.

As far as actresses from the past, Rita Hayworth and Lauren Bacall.

This one's easy. Ursula Andress, no contest.

We DO need to stay on point here.

But, as I said, those of my era will all agree on Ursula Andress.

But, you know, there is sexy, beautiful, and gorgeous. IMO three distinct categories.

I'm going to give the ladies a taste. I figured Ursella would be the favorite. Yes, Sophia Loren is off the charts.

Allright. You're bored, I'm bored. Network slow today.

I will not dispute the Sophia Loren statement. My momma didn't raise no stoopid chilren. BUT.....the most beautiful, not sexy, beautiful, woman EVER is Grace Kelly. When she would enter a room or walk onto the screen, ALL eyes would be on her.

We've gotta be on the same wavelength... :O)

Why, oh why, do I do this.....

Without question - Ursula Andress is #1.

However, *gasp* I must agree with Alien again...Sophie Loren (while she was not a Bond girl)is the top of the line, drop dead gorgeous - even to this day.

What about Miss Moneypenny?

Jill St.John, hands down!

BTW, the TWO phrases that have been uttered the MOST in movies........

1. Let's get out of here
2. Bond, James Bond

Susan St.James played Rock Hudson's wife in NBC's McMillan and Wife, and stared with Jane Curtin in "Kate and Allie".

Jill St. John is currently married to Robert Wagner.

For us "seniors", there is no debate here. Ursula Andress SET the standard. She has no peers. HOWEVER, Jill St. John was, back then, my favorite Hollywood babe and she still is, even now.

aH is right as usual. Although many are compared to Raquel Welch, Raquel Welch is compared to none.

Lana Wood, however, for a woman who is NOT beautiful like her sister, did a yeoman's job in that movie. And in Playboy. Always wondered why she didn't become a bigger star.

McMillian's wife...St. James...

First let me say I'm a sucker for redheads...lifelong fetish type thing. It's interesting that I was reading about such matters and it really makes sense how our sexual proclivities are formed, but at any rate...

Ursula Undress is the champ...since Racquel Welch isn't in the competition (I.Q. of 167).

If you want a competition of all time natural beauties...Sophia Loren has to be at the top of the list for best natural set of all time... I can provide documentation if you like. :O)

You were supposed to do a guys one before you did this one. I'm pouting.

Here's my take on Bond GUYS, in order of preference:

Daniel Craig is handsome and FIERCE
Sean Connery was the epitome of old school sexy and kicka$$
Pierce Brosnan was handsome and smooth
George Lazenby was brief so not established
David Niven was just a spoof in the original Casino Royale
Roger Moore was just gross

Ah yes, time for me to open the voting. First, some comments on our candidates.

Ursula Andress- An iconic scene if there ever was one in film. Halle Berry did it (and looked great doing it) but perfect for time and place. Just don't dig her as much as some.

Daniela Bianchi- This picture elevates her several spots in my mind.

Honor Blackman- Cool and great in the film, but middle of the road for Bond chick.

Claudine Auger- also pedestrian in comparison with the competition. Wouldn't turn it down if I had a Delorean though.

Lucianna Paluzzi- She is my top pick. A shock for some I'm sure, but consider this. She's Italian, she's a red head, and she's devious. Killer combination (pardon the pun). I needed a cold shower when I saw her in her first scene of Thunderball

Mie Hama- Nope.

Jill St. John- Was she in McMillian and Wife or was that another Jill St. someone? Ho hum.

Plenty O'Toole- She's the wild card. The picture makes her look like a village idiot, but who the hell cares? Probably more bang for buck in her short time on screen.
