Two oldies but still goodies, both from 1970. First, The Guess Who, No Sugar Tonight / New Mother Nature:
Then Eric Burdon and War, Spill The Wine. Mr. Burdon celebrated his 70th birthday on Wednesday:
Have a great weekend, everyone.

There’s no accounting for taste, and if people are stupid enough to pay to hear Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, forty years later it just proves P.T. Barnum was right. I don’t speak for Shortstuff, but IMO there was/is crap in any era (see Pat Boone ripping off Little Richard in the early days of rock and roll). The mid-60's to early 70's era (British Invasion, Jefferson Airplane CCR, Santana, Guess Who, Hendrix etc.) was mostly good with some crap (Archies, Monkees, Ohio Express, etc.) thrown in. After that, again IMO, it was/is mostly crap with some good sprinkled in. That’s the difference to me.
Loved them both. War was under-appreciated in its time. "Low Rider", "Why Can't We Be Friends" and "Cisco Kid" are now classics. While my old college band didn't play Guess Who's "No Sugar Tonight" we did play "American Woman" for the frats around UH. And I usually agree with Shortstuff on most things, but there was a lot of crap masquerading as music in that era. Witness this from the Ohio Express:

Who'd a thought these guys would have enough of an audience to do a tour 40 years later?
Those were "THE" years. That music rocks!!!
Thanks, Des!
Great picks!
Rock n roll will never die. For those who have not been to the Rock and Roill Hall of Fame in Cleveland, it is a must trip. Also, FYI, it's just a 3 1/2 hour drive to Niagara Falls. WOW!
