Politifact: Texas Receives More Than it Gives

Rachel Maddow did a story last week about how, despite Rick Perry's anti-government rhetoric, Texas receives more in federal funds than it pays it federal taxes.  Politifact rated her conclusion as mostly true.  Absolutely true since 2003.

Is it opinion that Perry spouts anti-government rhetoric? Or is it the truth?

Hmmm, I have seen and heard him do this. I am pretty sure it isn't an opinion... seeing how I have witnessed myself.

Is it in fact reality? I think so...

Doing a little research into reality, Texas in fact does receive more federal funding than it pays in taxes.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/22685.html

This information ranges from 1981 to 2005. 2003 - 2005 Texas has received more federal funding per capita than it pays in taxes.

Opinion? Naw, I call it reality.

Actually one of the greatest attributes of this country is the access to the truth. Something that seems to me lost on some people.

Granted you won't hear the truth on most network news syndicates, but the truth is out there for anyone in this country to see.

Even though the conservative attempt at suppressing the truth keeps happening, there are still REAL Americans who understand the reality of what is going on.

Amazing how the truth is "opinion" to some...

One of the greatest attributes of living in this country is the right for any person to voice their opinion pubically without fear of being arrested, tortured or killed. Some even have a TV show, some own a TV/radio company and some have unlimited affordable access to the Internet.

What?! You are saying a conservative politician is misleading about how much government funding they are receiving? Surely you must be mistaken.

I mean come on! That would mean that he is a Socialist...

Well, it should but we both know that those certain teabaggers will point the finger at federal immigration policies or some other such bs.

Have you ever noticed the similarities in politicians and oil patch hands? Seems to me like both have got the art of passing the buck down to a science.

Lol Bob. Lol.

I think its more of an outright subsidy. For Texas to get more than it pays, some state had to subsidize that. Wouldn't that drive certain Teabaggers crazy.

So, is this pretty much the same thing as an earned income credit for the state?

Des put me up to it.

Guys, you're making me blush.

According to Rachel..."In fiscal 2009, the IRS collected about $163 billion from Texans and the state received about $224 billion, for a net gain of $61 billion."

In retrospect, that decision to join the union in 1845 looks like a good one. This "Hope Andrade", Texas Secretary of State, wasn't SHE supposed to write the "thank you" note?

WOW......deja VU!!!!

But, OTOH, you gotta admit, Bob's a handsome fellow. Even though he's no Tom Bergeron.

Carguy, I think it's Bob's payback or his best attempt at it. Did you SEE Gracie's arm candy escort for "Best Dressed" award? Whoa! And that's coming from a straight guy...not that there is anything wrong with that...

No, no. There's nothing to it. Gracie is WAAY better looking than Rachel Maddow. She's just a media person and she needs guys like Bob for her show. Besides, Gracie was voted as one of the ten best-dressed women in Houston. I am sure Bob is not interested in her "romantically". Rachel...I don't know if she is. So what if she's got short hair. I know Ellen DeGenes does but so does Annette Benning.
..
Uh oh, my "voice recognition program" is apparently "on" and typing everything I am saying on the blog. Gotta go.

Bob, only the uninformed and ignorant fall for Rick Perry's rhetoric.I must add that Perry and his ilk are being helped by a mass media that no longer reports factual news but instead had turned to being a mouth piece for corporate political interests.
