(Above--Smoke as observed from space in the aftermath of the 9/11 attack.)
Republicans have said they are concerned that the bill would add to the deficit. Yet adding to the deficit did not seem to be a concern for Republicans when it came to protecting tax cuts for the most wealthy Americans.
The 9/11 bill will cost $7.4 billion.
Republicans care that the wealthy become more powerful and wealthy.
How is it that tax cuts for the rich are okay with many Republicans, but assistance for those who risked their health to help after the destruction of the World Trade Center is not okay?
Mike Huckabee, a former Republican Presidential candidate, says the 9/11 bill should be passed.
Here is some of what Mr. Huckabee said---
"There are people who need medical care right now, and frankly, the clock is running out on them. Their lives are fading away, even as we sit here talking about it,"
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani also supports the legislation.
Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma has renewed his commitment to not allowing the bill to proceed. Senator Coburn is a doctor.
Senator Coburn says he does not like the process that has been used to bring the bill to the floor of the Senate.
Sure.
How do average working people tolerate these things?
How can any loyal American support Republican actions in this matter?

"Senator Coburn says he does not like the process that has been used to bring the bill to the floor of the Senate"
Does not like the processs?? Wow, talk about a smoke screen to hide his sorry ass... I bet he's one of those who also hates everything "politically correct" too...that is unless that serves HIS purpose...
yes, that's what I was wondering...but, of course, I agree with you.
Sorry that I didn't make myself clear, or really get into what I meant by that statement.
I think the VA Medical Care that is given to the people could be better, to the top notch shape level it could be.
There is always room for improvement, and there is going to be more people coming through those doors when everyone comes home.
Personally the VA Hospitals don't effect my care at all, I am not qualified to use it.
I do think our Vets and anyone who goes beyond the call to defend this Country during an attack deserves the very best.
Hi AlienHunter
The VA is not the worst place to go, but in many places the care itself can be better.
I think the VA could very well be the best health care system, better than some insurance company's and State help.
In my opinion these people are hero's and served their Country. They should be treated as such.
Their care should be taken care of, in anyway they can find.
Hi WSP,
interesting comment about the VA...it's considered topnotch when compared to the American health system in general?
If another emergency ever would happen again, will people think twice in doing exactly what these responders did?
They need medical care, give them your tax cuts.
Open up the VA to them, they are all US hero's during this attack.
BTW..Get the VA in Top Notch Shape, it can be a lot better.
Despicable behavior from our elected representatives.
How much more proof does everyone need to know what the Republicans are all about?
These monsters will use 9/11 to garner any political advantage they can muster. Yet, the second it comes time to actually do something positive for the REAL victims of 9/11, they would rather give deficit building tax cuts to the wealthiest 1%.
Democrats screwed around on mid-term elections and let the RepubliCONs regain power.
Hope you are all happy. We are back to business as usual... They would rather people die, than pay their share.
Evil... pure evil I tell ya.
Absolutely fucking despicable. We all knew that Republicans were too chicken shit to actually fight in the wars they continually start, and now they won't help out the brave men and women who responded to the biggest attack on America in history. An attack that resulted from decades of the very wars the Republicans started in the Middle East.
It's too bad every one of the bastards that are against this aren't forced to choose between jumping to their deaths or being burned alive.
Cause you know for sure that not one of them would risk their lives as a first responder.
