Yard Sign Supporting Prayer

It is hard to imagine in a religious place like Texas that prayer needs to mount a campaign.

However, based on the yard sign you see above, prayer needs some help.

I took this picture in Houston about two weeks ago.

It is great if people wish to pray. More power to folks who wish to pray.

I hope that folks pray for is that we be more kind to each other, and that we be willing to help each other instead of turning on each other when times are difficult.

Prayer is no substitute for being a good person.

They're the Tealiban.

Isn't Osteen the AC/DC of the religious world? AC?DC -I chord/37 albums. Osteen - "think and be happy" 52 Sundays a year.

Whether I agree with Osteen or not I have to appreciate the fact that he doesn't mix politics and religion as others in this city (Ed Young/Second Baptist and Steve Riggle/Grace Community).

That particular sign sprouts like weeds in towns in East Texas. I also notice it in front of businesses owned by Republicans in my area. It's a code phrase for "we're Godly and the other side isn't" If we don't do things their way then their god is going to smite us. I believe the correct phrase is 'Talibaptists'.

Personally, I would put an accompanying sign on the fence that reads "Help Fight Mental Health!"

Fenced in, too! Just fence it in to goat the neighbors who hang chickens upside down and slaughter them in the middle of the night...

Bless you, my child, for you have
sssss............. - There goes another one! Buckaaaargk!!!

Hi Shortstuff,

yeah, I'm down with that...a little humility goes a long way.

I'm reading a parenting book by a former minister that stomps the heck out of all the self-righteousness (note the right in righteousness).

He doesn't say it explicitly but I think his son is gay. It's kind of heartwarming to see someone love their child unconditionally as he obviously does all the while flying in the face of scripture quoters. Nice!

I first saw this sign during the 2008 campaign. Is it just me, or did this just seem like another rightwing slap at Pres. Obama and the "hope and change" slogan?

That's how I interpreted it.

And I always think that someone who posts a sign like this in their yard probably sits in church on Sunday, considers themselves oh so righteous and holy but then goes home, beats the wife (or the hubby, it could happen!) and the dog, and breaks all the 10 commandments and then some.

You want to pray? Great! Prayer works wonders. But Kelly is right...Jesus had a specific message about praying "to your Father in private". He even said to go into your closet and shut the door.

Perhaps we should get the right reverend Joel Osteen on this.

Maybe he can write a book.

...my head hurts!

why you ?**#@. commie pinko...and worst of all, an atheist?

What does that bible verse say? He who prays in public surely gets the reward he's looking for?

Looks like someone wants people to see that they pray much more than they want prayer to save us. If they believed prayer would save us, they'd just pray wouldn't they?
