Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear was held today in Washington, DC and estimates place the number of participants at as many as 6 million, more than double those who attended President Obama's inauguration in January, 2009. The two rallies drew the record crowds as inspired participants from all over the country were bound and determined to put the Tea Partiers in their place as also-runs with their lame "whites-only" rallies held on April 15 every year. UPDATE. UPDATE: Estimates now place the crowd at 8 million, and that, in fact, half of New York City's population attended as well as all of Rhode Island!

I was there. It was Crazy. What you can't see from those pictures are all the people up and down the cross streets. We couldn't see or hear a thing, but the fun was the crowd, the signs, the wonderful lightheartedness of it all.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that satire is the highest form of humor. Society needs people to poke fun at it. If its Colbert doing his O'Reilly impression then so be it.

I was just reading about the genetic reasons behind disliking Palin. The study seems to have missed an important consideration. Her nails on a chalkboard voice has genetic implications for those that actually believe in evolution.
The screech was in evolutionary terms a 'warning' sound to other primates that danger was lurking. Males are more sensitive to the sound (for obvious reasons) and because in modern culture there is no true analogue to 'lurking danger' the psychic and physiological energy surge that the 'screech' produces is transformed into 'raging anger and hate'. 'Nuff said.
I was gonna say...the last estimate I heard was at 150,000. Pretty good crowd it seems.
My only problem with the part of Stewart's speech that I saw was when he decried fascist hyperbole. I think the pee party is deserving and decidedly believe that it is not hyperbole.

I read that FOX estimated the rally size at 7 including Stewart and Colbert.
If I'd gone to the rally, my sign would have read: "Just got back from Kenya. It's neither Muslim or Socialist, but if it we're, that would be okay"
I heard there were 10 million too but 3 million of them were CNN and MSM reporters trying to pump up and enthuse the crowd. I'd post pictures but they just look like recycled Inauguration photos to me. I mean they actually had pictures of the president without The Joker make-up or a Hitler mustache.
