So the good pastor in Gainesville says he doesn't think their actions will directly provoke any problems in the Middle East for our troops if they have a Koran burning party at their little church.
I find it rather ironic that the name of his church is the Dove World Outreach Center. Doves are typically the symbol of peace, right? World outreach implies that they want to reach out and embrace others, right?
It seems this oxy-MORON has put his own selfish need to blaspheme by burning a holy book, any kind of holy book, because he thinks the world ought to be Christian.
Wasn't this country founded by those who were trying to escape religious oppression and persecution?
It's obvious this foolish man has no loved one serving in Afghanistan or anywhere else. Apparently, no one else in the church does either, or else they just don't give a rat's rear end about possibly making the lives of the troops over there more dangerous.
It must be nice to sit in judgment from the comfort of his pulpit while others serve in a hostile theatre for his right to open his mouth and say something stupid in our democratic republic.
UPDATE: Here's an idea. These morons do these stupid things because they know they'll get coverage for it, especially on Faux Newz. Why not make it a crime (felony aiding and abetting sounds good) for the media to show this kind of hateful BS on the news since it will, and already has, put American lives on the line here and overseas? If they don't have a stage and a microphone, maybe they'll stop.
Jack-holes.

I heard on GMA this morning that it seems Rev. Doofus was "taken aback" by the outcry against his stupidity. And that he was "trying to find a way out of this."
Here's a suggestion: cancel the burning. And here are five little words that will help: "I am sorry. I was wrong."
As for any connection with the Cordova Center....once again, it is NOT a mosque. And if people are so damned outraged about anything being built at Ground Zero, then they need to protest the building of the FREEDOM TOWERS complete with RETAIL businesses (ie, shopping) in the basements. In "hallowed ground" so to speak.
I'm surprised these whackjobs don't demand we just raze the entire borough of Manhattan.
I am sick and tired of fools such as Jones and Phelps preaching their brands of hatred and bigotry in the name of Jesus.
Blind fools. And remember....Jesus' harshest words were for the Pharisees. Mr. Jones might want to remember that, but I believe he worships the vengeful God of the Old Testament. The "eye for an eye" one, not the God who proclaimed "Love thy neighbor" and "turn the other cheek".
They are bastardizing Christianity for their own agendas and I'm heartily sick of it.
As I write this, the "Rev" Jones has called off the Quran burning stating that the group led by Imam Rauf agreed to move the Islamic center from its planned site. However, he did not count on the Imam being interviewed for most of the day by ABC news' Christiane Amanpour who quickly reported the Imam's denial of any kind of deal. Imam Musri, who has been working with the "Rev" Jones, stated that the only agreement reached was to meet with Jones on Saturday. A link to the ABC story is here:
http://abcnews.go.com/US/pastor-terry-jones-cancels-koran-burning-calls-ground/story?id=11594495
Now the "Rev" Jones says he was lied to and the Quran burning might be on again. Looks like the "Rev" made the whole thing up to save face in light of all the opposition he has gotten.
Also looks to me like the "Rev" got his foreskin caught in the zipper.
There are mosques and centers in many places in this country, and there have been for many years, just as there are churches, temples, synagogues, etc.
Picking up this "cause" at this stage in nothing but incendiary, and totally against the tenets of tolerance that were outlined in our own Constitution, which people seem happy to misinterpret as they see fit.
There are good and bad examples in every religion, race, etc. When we allow the a-holes to take over and fan the flames of intolerance, racism, and divisiveness, we become no better than they are.
Can't we all just get along? (Rodney King, LA)
We must become the change we want to see. (Ghandi)
I am a professional -- former surgical assistant. I'd be happy to take care of it, free of charge.
Then I guess you have no problems with the plans to construct an Islamic center a couple of blocks away from the World Trade Center site and also agree that not making a big deal of it would help a lot.
There are kooks in all religions. But since we must be tolerant of other religions extremists, I'm afraid we must show this guy the same courtesy. Not making a big deal about it would help a lot. I do find it funny though that the Muslims who are calling for tolerance of their religion are threatening to kill American troops in Afghanistan if this guy goes ahead with his plan to burn the Koran. I also find it funny that they are threatening to kill our troops as if they are not doing that already.
No one needs to do this personally, just sneak into the doctor's office and jot it down on his exam. Good professionals will take care of it.
Hi Voice,
I refuse that job..It's all yours..lol
Hi Bill,
Better yet...I could feed him my home cooking...lol
The really sad thing is that these morons are going to torch a holy book without ever having read a single word that's in it. Ain't modern media grand? Never in history have 50 idiots had the ability to inflame the hearts and minds of millions and possibly cause the deaths of innocent Christians and American soldiers abroad.
Yes I know that violence is not the answer but don't you ever feel the urge to hold someone like the good pastor and just slap the shit out of them?
He reminds me of someone in dire need of a "rectal craniectomy"
I am a Christian my Bible is the KJV.
Do I agree with this Preacher..No
Since he believes the Korean is the Devils work. Doesn't he trust that, God takes down the Devil?
God has set rules for us to follow
Turn the other cheek
Love they Neighbor
Trust in God
Jesus taught us not to throw stones
God has given us free will to believe or not
The Devil is the one who causes chaos, let us not be a party to it.
God wants us to try to walk in his way, not take the reins.
I have to ask myself, why did he make a big thing about this and put the spot light on himself?
He reminds me of a rooster walking around with his feathers all puffed up.
pfft...this is nothing more than a cynical exploitation of anti-muslim sentiment. This is all about getting donations from simple-minded goobers who want to re-fight the crusades...
I can't remember if I posted this link on Wardah's blog on the chron or here, so I'll put it out there again just in case:

I know sending them a letter probably won't help, but it won't hurt. Hateful SOB's.
Wouldn't it be a hoot IF the REAL God turned out to be Muslim and Jesus was actually his step-son?
My grandpa, a very religious man, always said, "Son, whilst on God's earth, the greatest creation, be careful who you piss off. Dominus vo biscum."
Bottom line: nothing christian about it all.
One thing for sure: the extensive national exposure this pastor and his church are getting will only fuel his resolve to go ahead with this.
You beat me to the punch on this one. Here are some facts I found interesting about Islam when I first studied up on it. It was during a religious counseling class I took. The general idea was to get basic facts so I could counsel people of all religions.
1) Allah and Yahweh are the same God
2) Muslims consider Jesus a prophet. So, while he is not their messiah, he is revered.
3) Women wear head coverings to honor Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Yes, this sounds very much like a religion hell bent on destroying Christianity. The fact is that there are zealots in every religion that ruin it for the rest of us.
