Glenn Beck Meets His Match

It was one of those rare moments in live television...Glenn Beck, well known for extreme hyperbole and corny dramatics, was bested by one of his own guests.  Eric Massa, the now resigned member of Congress from New York, appeared tonight at Beck's invitation; Beck saw Massa as an opportunity to expose the Democrat's and President Obama's "corruption" that Massa had claimed forced him out of office.  Beck didn't quite get what he bargained for, however.  Hilariously, what he got was a close-up look at his own irrational diatribes for which he has become famous.

Massa, who has been under a House ethics investigation, has oddly begun to make wild allegations about being forced from office, being put under intense pressure from the White House and its chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, and that he was suffering from cancer.  As you would expect, he quickly had become the darling of the right wing for making these assertions, and Beck jumped at the chance to get him on his Fox News program to serve up a "gotcha" moment to those nasty "Libruuls".  Boy, was he dissappointed. He wasted an entire hour trying to get the scoop that he expected, only to get crawfishing, obfuscating, and babbling from Massa.  It was a hoot.

Here are two entertaining cuts:

Anyone who is paying attention knows that Beck is either:

  1. A nut.
  2. A cynical opportunist out to make a pile of cash.
  3. Both 1 & 2
He was so anxious to expose Democratic "corruption" that he stupidly put Massa on the air, apparently without vetting him in any way.  What he got was an hour of his own medicine...rambling and spouting of platitudes and irration ranting.  It was more than a little entertaining as Beck grappled with how to deal with a guest who was acting like, well, Glenn Beck.  He actually ended up apologizing to his audience for wasting an hour of their time.

There is some justice left in the world.

Carguy, I always enjoy your comments. The above one made me think of all the little space aliens picking up U.S. radio waves, which are mostly right wing talking crazies, and cell phones, used by a lot of teens, and getting a very distorted view of earth. I hope you're right in thinking they will leave us alone. But on the other hand, they may think we're so stupid we'd be easy to capture and enslave. I'm getting old, so I pray to see neither.

Scott and eljefebob, I always enjoy your posts, too.

I do have one "positive" note on all this crap. IF there is intelligent life "out there", and, IF they should be covertly "cloaked" in low earth orbit, monitoring such drivel as this, I think they would come to the conclusion that our civilization, as it is, is not worthy of further attention or "contact" at this point in our evolution. Guaranteeing, for the time being, that the TV show "V" will not be prophetic.

OTOH, EXACTLY HOW do morons like this guy and Blagoyovich, and NY governor Patterson and a whole barrel full of idiots get elected to public office?

It was straight out of "The Mind Parasites" for sure! It even had Limbaugh going to Costa Rica to avoid universal health care! I relished the day, although the craziness migrated into the computer repair shop I sub in, and nothing we did all day worked until very late in the afternoon and people were bringing in machines fried with bizarre trojans and simply ordering new ones!

Back at the ranch, we had to throw our chicken dinner out to the cats - it was a miserable experimental Wal Mart microwave monstrosity...
