Where Does the Rhetoric of the Far-Right Lead?

Where does the hate-filled rhetoric of the far-right lead?

When Rush Limbaugh says "we're just a couple notches above what hell must be like, and we're still spiraling down."

When Limbaugh says that Gallup is "upping the sample of black Americans" to keep President Obama's approval rating at 50%.

When Glenn Beck says the passage of health care reform will be "a nail in the coffin of America" and "the end of America as you know it."

When the Lafayette (MO) County Republican Central Committee endorses this billboard on I-70:
Prepare for War.jpgWhich replaced this billboard, also endorsed by the Committee:

Obama Nation Billboard.jpgWhen Wolf Automotive in Wheatridge, CO puts up this billboard: Jihad Birth Certificate.jpg

It leads to this:

"The unprecedented number of death threats against President Obama, a rise in racist hate groups, and a new wave of anti-government fervor threaten to overwhelm the US Secret Service, according to government officials and reports, raising new questions about the 144-year-old agency's overall mission."

And it leads to this:

The Port Huron (MI) Times Herald published an editorial critical of Congresswoman Candice Miller for her participation in Michele Bachmann's "press conference" on the steps of the Capitol. The article referred to Bachmann as a "hate-spewing, right-wing legislator," and said this about Rep. Miller:

"If Miller truly has signed up with the right-wing fringe -- the bigots, the hate-mongers and the Nazi-chanters -- all of us in the Blue Water Area might well need to take another look...Perhaps Miller could start with an apology for her performance at last Thursday's GOP festival of hate. "

That elicited this response from an unidentified woman in Kentucky:

"..she put in a call to the Gannett customer service center in Louisville, Ky., threatening to arm herself and "do what they did at Fort Hood." (Gannet owns the Times Herald.)

Of this I am sure. As the incendiary rhetoric of the far-right extremists increases, and I see no reason to believe it will do anything but increase; and when, not if, one of the weak-minded fools whose heads are filled with this daily dosage of hatred takes action, Limbaugh, Beck, Bachmann and the rest will break the Guinness record for backpedaling and distancing themselves from any responsibility.

Take that to the bank.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

I too think some of these people are committing treason so I looked up the definition. I guess not.

I think what they are doing is inciting violence. ANd if they did not take responsibility for Dr. Tiller after that murder, then they are just waiting for some nut to go after POTUS Obama.

Isn't advocating the overthrow of the government by force some kind of crime? I'm not sayin' put them in prison. I'm just saying arrest them, let 'em sit a while and rethink their position. If they still believe that way, indict them and force them into bankruptcy with legal fees.

I had an ear infection over the weekend. I'm a little bitchy this morning. After rethinking my post perhaps that was a little harsh........NAHHHH, I was right the first time.

Scott, I could not agree with you more. We absolutely MUST hold people responsible for the actions that result from the words that they speak -- or the hate that they spew.

I have always been a lover of our constitution , but I'm with car guy, we need to rethink this freedom of speech thing. In all seriousness, I think it is high time we start holding folks legally responsible for hate speech.

Actually, I find it hard to take ANYTHING to the bank these days. I already gave!

"The dumb idiots who believe them are being sold down the river by their heroes, not the the Obama Government"

The sad thing is that right-wing media could care less about their mindless followers, or that they're slowly killing one of this country's major political institutions (the GOP). It's all about money, kids, and watch how quickly Rush, Glenn, Sean et. al. dance backwards if and when something terrible happens...

I'd bet on "a liberal trying to set up blame on conservatives" as a response from Limbaugh and al to an eventual act of violence against Obama.

The level of hatred is disturbing. Very taliban like.

They are advocating mob rule. We have a democratic system in this country, if you don't like the results of an election, you work to get a good candidate and you work to get your candidate elected.
How many of these Tea Party Pathetics do you suppose are even registered to vote? Or have voted in the last election? Or could name their Congressman, City Council member, or any elected official?
I'd be willing to bet damn few of them.
But they're being whipped into a mindless frenzy because some jackass such as Beck and Limbaugh have told them to be.

I expect they won't backpedal. They'll simply say that the crazy person went to far, but was expressing "concern felt by millions of ordinary Americans..." etc. etc., cry, cry as Glenn Beck palms another cut onion under his eyes.

Cynical behaviour from the right-wing media as always. They're only in it to sell advertising and don't care about the consequences. They know what they are saying is wrong, but they don't care. The dumb idiots who believe them are being sold down the river by their heroes, not the the Obama Government.

They are throwing out the opening salvos of a new Civil War.
They are racist. They are beyond stupid.
And they are DANGEROUS.
The party of "personal responsibility" will try to claim "NO responsibility".
Hell is too good for the likes of them.

More Americans are blaming the Obama administration for Afghanistan, for job losses, for a failure to enact health care reform, for propping up too big to fail banks who then raised our credit card rates, for respecting the culture of another country and bowing to the Japanese emperor, for crisply saluting America's war dead. For failures real and imagined, for failures engineered by the GOP minority, egged on by angry teabaggers too dumb to know their ass from their elbow.

And it is going to get worse. Take Kay Bailey Hutchison, who used to be pretty respectable for a Republican, but who is now groveling to the know-nothing vote in her desperate attempt to become one of the weakest governors in the American political system. Like Rick Perry, she engages in outright blatant lies (takeover of the health care system) when what she should be doing - as a national leader - is educating and informing her constituents. Instead, she foments discontent, promotes distrust of government. Why would people not take up arms when urged on by such fools? These people are just despicable.
