What Hath John McCain Wrought?

Thanks a lot, Senator McCain. Prior to August 29, 2008, a date which will live in infamy, few people outside of Alaska had ever heard the name Sarah Palin. Even fewer had been subjected to the inane ramblings which originate somewhere inside that vast, barren, wasteland known as her mind. She was tucked safely away, thousands of miles from an unsuspecting country, hunting moose and being a hockey puck mom. But you just couldn't leave well enough alone.

In an effort to pick up the support of disaffected Hillary Clinton voters you unleashed on this country a tsunami of ignorance and stupidity that is still washing over us some 15 months later. And the end is not in sight.

My first inclination would be to suggest to Sen. McCain that he apologize to the country and resign from office, but since that wouldn't un-create the Palinstein monster he brought to life, I would like to second an idea from Richard Cohen of the Washington Post--the Institute for the Study of Sarah Palin.

...the Institute for the Study of Sarah Palin should look into how she was chosen by John McCain as his vice presidential running mate -- and why McCain, given absolute proof of abominable judgment and the sort of sorry political opportunism he built a career decrying, has not repaired to a monastery and taken a vow of absolute silence because almost anything he has to say post-Palin has to be judged by his choice of her.

...A further area of study ought to deal with the mind-set of McCain's former campaign aides who continue to criticize Palin for not turning out to be the mute puppet they had so hoped she would be. That she went rogue I have no doubt -- but this was only after they went stupid and helped pick her in the first place.

The Institute for the Study of Sarah Palin might conclude that she represents the exact moment important Republicans gave up on democracy. She was clearly seen as an empty vessel who could be controlled by her intellectual betters. These include the editorial boards of the Weekly Standard and the Wall Street Journal, neither of which would hire Palin to make an editorial judgment but both of which would be thrilled to see her as president of the United States. It does not bother these people in the least that the woman is a demagogue -- remember "death panels"? -- and not, on the face of it, very responsible. If she quit as governor of Alaska in the noble pursuit of money, might she quit as, say, vice president or president for the same reason?

Mr. Cohen proposes that the funding for the ISSP come from the money George W. Bush has raised for his policy institute at SMU, but that doesn't penalize Sen. McCain for his evil deed.  Make him sell one or more of Cindy's beer distributorships or a couple of their seven homes, I say. He owes us that much.

this is one of the most baffling realities. that mccain's handlers looked at all potential possibilities for veep and decided, let's defeat obama by appealing to bitter hillary women AND that palin would come to mind. i understand "let's go with a woman" although it's a proven losing tactic. but let's go with palin? caribou barbie who winks and has nothing going on between her ears? surely there must have been some senate or congress women, a business woman like carly fiarona, even mary matelin. someone they could interview and determine knowledgeable enough to string two sentences together. no background check on her trooper gate and ethics complaints, her husband belonging to secession groups, her IQ??? right now i'm baffled by the liberal media who will not stop babbling about her 2012 potential. chris matthews has a thrill up his leg, lawrence o'donnell on countdown discussing her book signing. these people need to google the "extinction technique". its a neat little thing where you disregard inappropriate behavior until it stops, a clever behavior modification which is really quite effective. anyone today can write a book and go on a book tour, hell thinking of doing it myself on the tea party liars. since al franken can no longer go after rush, beck and fox, somebody needs to pick up the torch! my working title is "minority of the minority" and it's the compelling story of a liberal subjected to tea party mentality of her elected representative. subtitle, "a firsthand account of taxation without representation"!

Celebrity.........we bestow it too carelessly. We affod it too much credibility. And, if as rumored, Mrs Palin is looking for a spot on "Dancing with the Stars"....well....I can;t wait to hear what Bruno will say.

There is no punishment adequate for Senator McCain. I think Bud Adams said it best (or gestured it best) the other night. A double barrell salute to McCain seems appropriate.

In a national poll conducted by Rasmussen on November 13 and 14, 2009 among 1000 likely voters, Sarah Palin is now polling higher in approval than Barack Obama.

In their latest poll, Rasmussen finds that 51 percent have a favorable view of Sarah Palin while 43 percent have an unfavorable view.
Obviously, this is a very strong rating considering the constant bombardment the American public is subjected to by the corrupt media, telling them how “bad for America” Sarah Palin is.

If anything, this may be more of a statement on the shrinking influence the old, corrupt media has on the American public, than on Sarah Palin herself. It may also show that Americans are moving past the misinformation that is out there, and actually looking into Sarah’s record.

People do like her, she is real, has shared values, which is what we find comforting. I like her, I wish her well.

Editor's Note: Truth Stretcher, you do know that Rasmussen is a Republican pollster, correct? His polls are good for one thing...toilet paper. That's why no network but Fox Noise quotes him. Here are a few real numbers for you:

National Average Polls:

Obama Favorable: 57.2%
Obama Unfavorable: 37.4%

Palin Favorable: 36.6%
Palin Unfavorable: 50.4%

These numbers include all national polls including Rasmussen's bullshit. Excluding Rasmussen, her unfavorable goes up to 51.3%.

Try again.

Way too much ink on way too shallow a person.

"The only reason we even know about Sarah Palin is John McCain. He picked her so carelessly, and his thought process was so cynical, that he should stand in the dock of public opinion before Palin does. Her vanity led her to say yes to his crazy offer. But he gave her that chance. And in the end, she is his responsibility."

McCain's monumentally bad judgment is the only reason Sarah Palin is in the spotlight today. Thank God Americans had the good sense not to elect such an erratic man president, much less put fruitcake Sarah a heartbeat away from the presidency.
