I've heard Cheney say over and over that they 'kept America safe for eight years'. Uh, no, we stayed safe for 7 &1/2 years, AFTER you ignored warnings and allowed the worst terrorist attack in history.

I guess it was a war. That would follow the general idea of denying basic human rights to the accused.
Perino never had much credibility with the press corps, according to a close friend who worked on the Hill. While the other Press Secretaries, including Tony Snow, were generally regarded to know when they were just spinning something and playing the game, Perino really did seem to drink the kool-aid.
I know that if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth, but this is ridiculous. Maybe if you don't catch the guy responsible, it never happened.

It worked for the Bush administration in their attempts to link Saddam Hussein with al Qaida prior to the 2003 war, and in alleging that Iraq had WMDs during the relevant period. Why not keep at the old game? Black is white and up is down, as long as you say it often and loudly enough.
