Author of "Obama Nation" Claims Fort Hood Shooter Advised Obama

There's low, and there's fearmongering monster low.  As 13 families grieve their loved ones this morning, right wing fearmonger Jerome Corsi has already tried to turn the Fort Hood Shooting into another incident caused by a radical Obama associate.

Today, on World Net Daily (a site that makes Fox News actually look 'Fair and Balanced"), Corsi wrote, "Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the alleged shooter in yesterday's massacre at Fort Hood, played a homeland security advisory role in President Barack Obama's transition into the White House, according to a key university policy institute document. "

In detail, here's what that means (From HuffPost):

Corsi hangs his entire allegation on a document produced on May 19, 2009 by The George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute entitled "Thinking Anew, Security Priorities for the Next Administraion." In that document, Nidal Hasan is listed, on page 29, as a "Task Force Event Participant." He was one of hundreds of people listed as a "participant." Significantly, Nidal was not the author of the document. He was not a member of the HSPI's "Presidential Transition Task Force." Nor was he a member of the HSPI's "Task Force Staff." He was not a member of the HSPI's Steering Committee or a briefer to the task force.

Also, the activities of the HSPI here do not in anyway constitute official transition advice to the White House, despite the fact that a committee got named the "Presidential Transition Task Force" and the HSPI's activities involved identifying homeland security priorities and offering advice. Here is what the HSPI does:

Founded in 2003, The George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute (HSPI) is a nonpartisan "think and do" tank whose mission is to build bridges between theory and practice to advance homeland security through an interdisciplinary approach. By convening domestic and international policymakers and practitioners at all levels of government, the private and non-profit sectors, and academia, HSPI creates innovative strategies and solutions to current and future threats to the nation.

The task force gave itself the following mission: "to further policy discussions of the top strategic priorities in the area of security in order to generate actionable recommendations, for the Administration taking office in January 2009, designed to effectively meet the most vexing challenges the United States faces today."

Essentially, what the HSPI did (and all of this is spelled out explicitly in this document's executive summary) is convene a giant group of security wonks and academics, heard some briefings, made some "internal deliberations," and generated a set of priorities and recommendations. Then those recommendations got published, and maybe someone at the White House read them, but it's more likely that the content ended up as material to cite in the middle of further security-wonk discussions.

And at some point in the process, Nidal Hasan might have sat in a room while this was happening, with a few hundred other people.

At some point, this is going to all reach a climax, and more people are going to get hurt.  This has to be stopped.  Republicans, even extremists like Bachmann, need to come out and CONDEMN these types of claims.  Enough.  Let our military families grieve.

Kind of an inflated ego problem, huh?

Millions of planets in an infinite universe and the center of that universe is.....not you.
TRUTHfully....no one gives a shit what you think, truthslayer.

Truthstretcher...You were right? About what? Most of your comments are hyperbole and bullshit repeated from Rush's latest schtick. I haven't feared anything from the President. I'm just grateful that we have a President who can speak in complete sentences and is not in the pocket of Halliburton.

You hate that I was right? Is that why you do not post my comments? As the layer of the onion are peeled off, he is what you feared.

I fear for my country. I really do.
The hatred is ramped up to levels I've never seen.

Corsi is a well recognized wing nut. But now the former commander of Ft. Hood, apparently yet another wing nut, is running for Congress in a Florida district and says this is evidence that Islamic terrorists are infiltrating our military.

I actually kinda remember when Joe McCarthy pointed to his coat pocket and said he had a list of the names of people who were communists and worked in the State Department. Doesn't sound like things have changed much. Names have changed, but the political party is the same.

Is it just me being overly sensitized by a really bad phase of the moon, or have things taken an ominous and foreboding turn for our society? I have attempted to find adequate reason for all of the political infighting, supposedly random acts of violence, and assorted proclamations of fealty to one cause or another - without substantial or elemental understanding in the end. It is seemingly becoming more tedious than ever to conclude that there is a universal truth that will save us at this point.

ET COME HOME!

Good grief. The lengths these wingnuts will go to is troubling. They fabricate lies and then go to the internet and spread it as fact. The rest of the bobble heads follow suit God help us all from these dilusional wingnuts. I hope to heck one or a few do not go over the edge!

great, now i'll have more fwd.fwd.fwd emails to dispel with my elderly parents and the things they're supposed to "fear" this week. yesterday before the situation was even resolved, fox news was fearmongering about how the civilian community should be on "terror alert" from radical muslims. saying crap like the shooter "converted" and "had links to overseas militants". when the last name was released, all news pretty much went that route. so it was quite ironic when it was revealed he was born in virginia, and not at all surprising when his cousin said the man was bullied for being a muslim since 911 and did not want to go to iraq. i could not help being struck by how difficult it's gonna be for fox to spin this as obama's fault. because this loose cannon was well known to fort hood, the army, and the bush white house. gates might been in the most precarious position of all, being responsible from both the bush & obama administrations. think how easy it would have been to discharge this doctor and let him make financial arrangements on his education expenses paid by the govt. thought we were 100% a volunteer army. obama needs to dig up the homeland security report that was released right after he started in office, stating that soldiers, veterans and law enforcement personnel pose the greatest security risk to america. and now we can add tea party people to the list. america is so rage and hate filled right now, nobody could do anything to convince me it's anything except white rage over a black face in the white house.

Boy you got that right!

It reminds me of a humorous story appropriate for Friday.

I took French in HS. Any foreign language is difficult, especially when you are exposd to it only 45 minutes a day, just 5 days a week and not on holidays.

HS students are ALWAYS lookijng for a reason they can't learn or "grasp" a foreign language. So, when one is "given" to them they readily accept it as truth.

One of my classmates asked my French teacher, Miss Loveless "why is French so HARD?????

Well class, back in the days when they were fighting wars every couple of years in Europe. You know the "100 Years War", the "War of the Roses", The "French and Anglo War", the French found there were many enemy spies infiltrating their ranks. They couldn't spot the spies as they were able to "pick up" the language so easily.

So they convened a conference in Lyons and ALL the heads of state, nobelmen, and prpoperty owners attended. They voted to change the language to make it "harder", much harder to speak. They changed many of the words and used complicated conjugation of verbs anad eratic syntax.....

She paused because everybody in the class was hangin on her every word......

Do you guys believe that she queried in a most puzzling manner.

Oh sure, that makes perfectly good sense to us and explains everything.

You can fool ALL of the people SOME OF THE TIME.

Corsi always seizes the opportunity to spell out some false link to Obama. You have to do something to sell books. The problem being that a lot of the wingnuts believe everything he writes. It doesn't matter that the link is so tenuous as to be absurd, they have to believe that Obama is involved somehow.

Corsi joins the legions of other wingnuts for whom the truth is completely irrelevant. We read these assholes (and if there was ever an appropriate time for that word to be used, this is it) every day in the conservative Chron blog and in the comments - bigoted, ignorant, racist, and all so damned proud of being American patriots.

Nothing is too extreme or far-fetched for them to believe. Bachmann, Palin, Corsi, and their local supporters/sycophants like Melissa and Texas Sparkle. Too dumb to know how stupid they are.

Kel, Kel, Kel......it would be easier to get a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than to get these moronic republicans to admit that anything that could be construed as derogatory to Obama was a lie.

You know they have linked him to the sinking of the Titanic AND the Maine, the start of World War II and the Falklands War, the demise of the Edsel and the "invention" of the Corvair and I'm prety sure I saw they blamed his grandmother for the Great Chicago Fire.

Now ask yourself why it is so crazy to recognize the CIAs links to Bin Laden. There is REAL documented proof we trained and funded Bin Laden. Yet, these guys can just pull stuff out of a hat and it is ingested as truth.

The only reason the teabaggers need to rave about this is that he was of Arab descent and he has an Arab name.
I fear for my country.
And I am beginning to DESPISE the Republican Party.

This is so freakin' beyond the pale. What in the hell is the matter with people?

Condemn it? Don't be surprised if Bachmann or one of the other whackjobs introduce articles of impeachment based on this story.

Everyone's got an opinion and some are so quick to judge without knowing all the facts. All we know about this man was he as military doctor who counseled veterans, was born and raised in the U.S. and was being deployed to Iraq. No one knows much else so for some crazies to conclude he was a terrorist, had connections to Obama through Homeland Security, etc. is ridiculous. Go ahead and stir the pot some more. We already have the tea baggers ranting and raving... get some more people scared and angry.. just what we need - more violence and anger. Be careful.
