Meet the Newly Elected Texas Republican Chairman, Cathie Adams

cathie adams.jpgWe've got ourselves a new head of the GOP here in Texas - a Rick Perry supporter who makes Michael Steele look like a good leader.  As our friends over at Kiss My Big Blue Butt like to say, she's triple z crazzzy.

From TFP Insider, some quotes from the new esteemed leader:

- "Earlier this month, she compared President Obama to Adolf Hitler, suggesting that his speech to American students was "eerily like Hitler's youth movement."

- On the President's religion:

"While many question Barak (sic) Hussein Obama's 'religion'..., the more important question is whether he has a 'relationship' with Jesus Christ because that is the only HOPE that any of us have to obtain eternal life. I personally see NO evidence that Obama has that kind of 'saving faith.'"

- On why she opposed $300 million over 10 years to cancer research:

"Scientists are on the verge of cloning humans, injecting them with diseases and studying them, then killing them."

- On why illegals are responsible for the high teen birth rate in Texas (not abstinence only education):

"If mom had a baby at age 15, are her morals going to be setting different standards than someone who has grown up in the American culture where that is not typical? As a matter of fact, we would look at someone impregnating a 15-year-old as child abuse."

- On why she opposes CHIP:

"Now illegal aliens will be able to purchase cheap insurance for their children. This is an incentive for them to come here."

- "In May she attacked legislation by fellow Republicans (and signed into law by Gov. Perry) to aid the study of how mental health services might be used in treating patients with other health conditions. Such a thing, she said,

"is now more dangerous than ever with the federal government taking up nationalized/rationed health care. Texans must not surrender our mental and physical health to a socialist State that President Obama is striving toward."

Even conservatives have raised questions about her ability to lead the Texas GOP in a manner that's sane:

"Adams is a Perry supporter. Both of them have provided heartburn inducing moments recently for those of us who are sane, common sense voters in the party. First Adams, a RNC member, goes to Washington after the election and is part of the group pushing the re-naming of the Democrats as Socialist Democrats resolution. She even went on the Neil Cavuto show on FOX News and continued on with the nonsense as he gave her chance after chance to let it go and prove she wasn't out of her mind. It was embarrassing to the grown ups in the room," says Mother of all Conservatives over at the Pondering Penguin.

Did we expect any less from the G.O.P. here in Texas?  The far right seems determined to legitimize these folks, while the rest of the nation looks at us (and South Carolina) and shakes their heads.

anyone catch culberson today on cspan during one minute speeches? he actually said "liberals brand us the party of no, yet republicans are not even in the healthcare debate. the battle being waged is between the left and far left, they hold a 60 seat majority and could pass anything they wanted to pass. WE COULD NOT EVEN STOP A ONE CAR PARADE!"

god help me, culberson actually nailed the problem, the solution AND the republican solution which is obstruct, complain, repeat obstruction and complain. then wait for dems to piss off dems when nothing gets done and get voted out of office by republicans who can say they are not responsible. HE GETS IT, but democrats who hold the executive branch and both houses do not and will not be satisfied until their back in the minority! the fat lady is singing and democrats are too stupid to listen! we are listening, and our worst nightmares have come true, we open our mouths to warn them like the ghost of christmas future and not a sound comes out. there is a book to write in all this, a few monday morning quarterbacks to switch places with all the republicans currently employed as analysts on cable news as "former" insiders to deconstruct how they blew it. now i'm really depressed.

Wow. Keep 'em coming! I LOVE it! Shoot the OTHER FOOT - then the OTHER one - yep, the next one TOO! I can't WAIT for them to start putting up signs in their front yards! I plan to walk by, point and laugh hysterically at each and every one! Then, walk back again with my dear hubby and do it again! Then, bring some of my friends 'round! Yep, fun times are coming! These people are getting so loony that even my loony neighbors are denigrating them! (they USED to put up republican signs but have already declared they are THROUGH with the republican party!)

That's a BIG barrell. Everything is bigger in Texas.

Turtles, ditto Latino, African-American, and Log Cabin Republicans...do they really think Repugnants give one iota about their issues? Fer real? I think some folks just categorize liberals as sissyfied quiche eaters...and dont want to be associated with that.
Hey, dont forget you have a school board member who scoffs at the importance of education to be on the school board...
Im just glad my state has kinda slid off the radar for looniness...except when Fred Phelps shows up at a funeral or someone kils a doctor in a church...and people celebrate. Sheesh.

I hope they keep parading their morons out in front of the cameras. It gives the late night comics such fodder.
And as Kathleen proves every day at the chron, you can't fix stupid. Sometimes all you can do is put lipstick on it.

I thank Jobu that Adams is such a role. The more she spouts her nuttiness from her leadership pulpit the more she polarizes, encouraging even greater numbers of moderates to flee the party.

It cracks me up that freaks like Adams, Bachmann, et. al. are so short-sighted, failing to recognize that the Spiral of Crazy will eventually winnow the party down to a tiny core of true believers surrounded by "insufficiently pure" castoffs with long memories. It'll be years before they'll form another right wing coalition. Best case (for them), Dems will screw things up badly, hastening a Repub reformation.

Sis, to answer your question, "Haven't they reached the bottom of the barrel of stupid yet?", the answer has to be an emphatic, "hell no".

They could still pick Sparkle next time around.

Morons are never in short supply. The funny thing is not that they exist but that they are in positions of leadership. Every state in the union has folks like this woman, but most just pat them on the head and thank them for their vote. We're special here in Texas.

My comment can also be written as "Haven't they reached the bottom of the barrel of stupid yet?"
Dang, just when I think they're dragged the last moron left on earth out in front of a camera, they present us with one more.

Haven't they reached the bottom of the stupid barrel yet?

I will never understand why some women will support far right causes. They either do not understand that it is the "Liberals" that fought for their rights and to give them a voice in our society.

To me these people want us to step back in time and take away the rights that women and minorities have fought for.

Geez, she even manages to makes Katherine Harris sound like a rocket scientist...

Ain't nobody crazier than a Texas Republican. And they apparently love to prove that point, over and over again.

So you have to be "born again" to be a Republican in Texas? She won't last long.

Just when you think that it can't get any worse -- it does!
