The Extreme Result of Radical Hate Speech

We've now witnessed what the extreme result can be from a continuous diet of hate, distortion, propaganda, and bigotry.  I'm sure you've read about the nutcase who walked into a Unitarian Universalist church Sunday in Knoxville carrying a shotgun and killing 2 people and wounding 6 others.  His reason?   According to the Knoxville police, "because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of media outlets."  What? "should be killed"?

The shooter's reading material?

"Liberalism is a Mental Disorder" by right wing talker Michael Savage.

"Let Freedom Ring" by Fox Noise star Sean Hannity.

"The O'Reilly Factor," by Bill O'Reilly, whose name speaks for itself.

Guns, brass knuckles, and other weapons were found in Jim David Adkisson's home.  In a 4 page letter, this guys railed against "Liberals in general, as well as gays."

Such is the fruit of the kind of hate, distortion, and propaganda that spews forth regularly from right wing talk radio, Fox Noise, and from idiots like those authors listed above.  Their false assertions that those who disagree with the right wing have some sort of personality disorder or character flaw are destructive and designed to inflame emotions simply to sell books and make money.  Add mental instability and you get attacks on churches, Planned Parenthood centers, and other innocents who just happen to disagree with another's political or religious beliefs.  It's irresponsible, and these talking heads should be ashamed of themselves. 

But they're making too much money spreading hate to quit.
